Barbara Pickett

Barbara H Pickett, a local Port Credit artist, has been painting for over 20 years having taken instruction at the Newmarket School of Fine Art, as well as with instructors in Mississauga and Etobicoke.  She has traveled to paint with groups in France, and Quebec, and utilizes photos taken while travelling around the world to become the subject matter for her watercolours.

She has led numerous watercolour painting workshops, as well as exhibited in juried shows.  She enjoys creating meaningful commission paintings, as well as triptychs, for display in larger spaces.

“I have always been drawn to the magic of watercolour. I love to watch how the paint dances on the paper and how the various depths of pigments reflect the light and draw you into the painting.  I find the softness, and transparency, of this medium inviting.”

I have taken photographs of beautiful cobblestone streets, hidden alleyways, breathtaking scenery, and unique architecture, which I transform into watercolour paintings for my client’s enjoyment.

My desire is to take the viewer back to a place visited, or to a place they have dreamed of visiting someday. The painting is designed to capture the charm of the vista, and instill happiness.

I invite you to take a walk with me into a “World of Watercolour” and find a scene that makes you smile.
