Introducing Lexi Reid. Encaustic mosaics are unique to Lexi Reid. They are endlessly fascinating as you examine each little piece of the complete mosaic.
“I am interested in the process of thought and memory”, says Alexi Reid. Alexi works with encaustic paint for its unique abilities to preserve life’s ephemera beneath layers of wax and paint. She uses mixed media to assemble images and objects that best fit the theme she is trying to express. Dreams and daily life serve as inspiration for Alexi’s works.
Alexi Reid is a self-taught artist, and works primarily in acrylic and encaustic paints. She studied art in high school (awarded the Fine Art prize in her final year), and did a minor in Art History. She pursued molecular biology as a career, but has come back to art after working as a government research scientist. Alexi Reid is a member of the Fine Arts Society of Milton and Visual Arts Mississauga. She sells her paintings and jewellery through her online store.
