Diane Dowsett

Diane was born in Sudbury, Ontario, and grew up in small communities. Her family’s camping trips sparked her love of nature and led to a lifelong passion for drawing animals and landscapes.

While Diane’s first career was in business as a human resources professional, creating art was a constant fixture in the background and provided a way to stay grounded through challenging times. She is now dedicated to art, wellbeing, and engaging with the community locally. Skills developed in the business world support Diane’s artistic focus through her abilities to navigate change, communicate well with others, and translate ideas into action.

Living, working, and traveling in many countries throughout her life, Diane is inspired by the substantial variations in geography, cultures, and the creative accomplishments of others.

Largely self-taught, Diane benefitted from short art programs over the years, always learning from other artists’ techniques and insights. She values their generosity of knowledge, feedback, and guidance, and in turn, finds her own ways to support others as she moves forward with art.
