Leslie discovered the joy of painting after the birth of her first child. She now lives in Port Credit and draws inspiration from this beautiful area on Lake Ontario. Leslie Buckle – Artist Statement

I work solely with oil paint because I love the way that it flows and blends on the canvas.  The inspiration for my oil paintings comes from the beauty I see around me. I work exclusively from photographs that I have taken myself, so each painting reflects what I have perceived to be exquisite or inspiring. I paint both botanicals and landscapes, but I particularly love to paint sunrises and sunsets; not only are they often stunning, but they are also so powerfully symbolic of the life cycle.

I am a scientist by training, and I use my detail-oriented background to paint in a very photo-realistic way.  My hope is that I can make a viewer experience the texture of the leaves and petals in my botanical work and feel the scale, distance, and drama in my landscapes.
