We are featuring an original oil painting by Dave Froude as our door prize this April. When you visit the show, fill in a ballot completely & you will be eligible to win.
Dave’s inspiration has always been drawing objects. In his early twenties, he applied to art college and was accepted, and spent a year learning how to draw and paint. He then chose to focus on Technical Illustration, at the same time Dave also continued with life drawing because he loved it so much.
After college, Dave worked in multimedia for over a decade, but finding the digital world sterile, Dave felt no connection to artistic fulfillment anymore. He slowly transitioned to more traditional work by picking up a paintbrush and painting again. Although a long process, it was very satisfying.
Since then, he has been painting almost everyday, and his work has been steadily improving with each painting. During the last three years, Dave has been juried into two art societies, has gained gallery representation, has participated in many juried exhibitions, and shown his work at three art festivals in 2014 (most notably the Buckhorn Fine Arts Festival). Last year, one of Dave’s paintings was accepted into the Ontario Society of Artists juried show Soaring Ambitions. Dave was invited to become an instructor by Visual Arts Mississauga of oils and acrylics. He enjoys teaching everything he’s learned to others.
